Literature Review

Short review

Crops need a place to grow which has nutrients and water to grow and by putting it in a self-sufficient box to allow itself to grow automatically for harvest and the needs the have the best minerals for maximum growth.

Possible research questions

- What minerals are most suitable for maximum growth of certain crops?
- Will the over-dosage of water and minerals kill the crops ? If so, how are we suppose to prevent that?
- How can we allow the crops to have enough sunlight in a box ? (especially if they are stacked up)
- Does the crop have enough space in a box?
- What can the box be made of to suit the plants needs ?
- How can crops grow on their own ?
- What does the minerals/ fertilizers contain, any side effects that will affect the plant ?
- How are we suppose to maintain the right temperature for the crops to grow faster?
- How can we make it more creative and innovative rather than just a boring box?

Water from thin air : Experimenting with dew traps

Most of us live in areas where sources of water exist nearby as oceans, rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, reservoirs, wells, or even underground streams. But in some places, like the desert, water is hard to find and a precious resource. In this environmental engineering science project, you will investigate one way that people living in arid regions can collect water inexpensively: dew traps.

Objectives : To build two dew traps of different diameters and determine how the amount of water collected depends on the surface area of the trap.

Dust busters : How to no-plow farmers try to save OUR soil 

Do you have any great-grandparents who lived through the Great Depression in the United States during the 1930's? If so, they might have stories to tell about terrible dust storms that blackened the skies, from the Midwest to the east coast. Severe drought was a factor in causing this "Dust Bowl" era, but decades of poor farming practices contributed to it, too. In this environmental science fair project, you'll learn about farming methods that help keep dirt from drying up into dust, and help keep topsoil where it belongs—on the farm.

Objectives : To determine whether no-till or plow-based farming methods are best at retaining surface moisture and preventing surface runoff.

Urban-Farming : Automatic farm

Don't you find farming boring ? Harvesting crops too can be a tiring job, everyday under the hot sun just watering your crops over and over again ? Do not with automatic farming, we can be more efficient in terms of harvesting and planting and watering ! What more, in a box ! By keeping them in storages and using urban-farming and automatic fertilisers.

Objectives : To build an automatic farm to harvest and water plants without using much strength in a box.

It is the steps used to solving a problem using facts, research and investigation through various way of gaining knowledge.

A scientific method is using certain procedures to research or investigate a certain happening or topic, acquiring new knowledge or replacing the old wrong one.

The pursuit of knowledge, involving the recognition and formulation of a problem,the collection of data through observation and experiment base on facts.
